The Opportunity


Nutanix is seeking an experienced, highly collaborative change agent to join our Product Quality Engineering team as a Staff Manufacturing Quality Engineer. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly influence customer satisfaction by partnering with key internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners to optimize production and test processes, ensuring exceptional product quality in the field.

In this role, you will work closely with our hardware production and test partners to drive rigorous root cause analysis and execute effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for both customer‑impacting field issues and revenue‑impacting factory test failures. You will leverage data and analytics to identify failure trends and lead cross‑functional efforts to implement sustainable corrective actions.

You will drive meaningful, systemic improvements using proven quality methodologies such as FMEA, DOE, Process Control, First Article Inspections, Six Sigma, and 8D. Partnering closely with Supply Chain Operations, Product and Test Engineering, Field Support Engineering, and Design Engineering, you will help embed a culture of continuous improvement and unwavering quality.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Quality Engineering, you will play a critical role in shaping Nutanix’s quality culture and delivering outstanding customer outcomes. About the Team

At Nutanix, you will be joining the Product Quality Engineering team, a small yet dynamic group of four dedicated professionals based in San Jose, CA. You will report to the Sr. Director of Product Quality Engineering, who fosters an environment of support and empowerment. In this hybrid work setup, you will be expected to work in the office three days a week, allowing for a blend of collaborative on-site teamwork and focused remote work. Additionally, there are no travel requirements for this position, enabling you to concentrate fully on your contributions and growth within the team.


Your Role

  • Define and drive adoption of a Manufacturing Quality vision that aligns with Nutanix’s business priorities and scales with growth.
  • Partner with external manufacturing partners to strengthen First Article Inspection (FAI) rigor for New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, ensuring robust Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance practices that deliver high first‑pass yields in production and test.
  • Lead cross‑functional development of FMEAs with internal Nutanix stakeholders and execute mitigation plans that enable the release of high‑quality, reliable products.
  • Influence external partners to deploy advanced data analytics and automated metrics, enabling targeted trend analysis and focused investment on the highest‑impact quality issues.
  • Drive robust non‑conformance management systems with external partners, ensuring effective identification, disposition, and prevention of non‑conforming materials.
  • Lead weekly on‑site quality reviews at external partner locations, driving execution of quality initiatives and strategic plans for both new and sustaining products.
  • Represent Manufacturing Quality in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with internal Nutanix leadership and external partners, clearly communicating performance, risks, and improvement plans.
  • Collaborate closely with Customer Quality and Supplier Quality teams to capture lessons learned and institutionalize best practices across the supply chain.

 


What You Will Bring

  • 8 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree, 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, building alignment and driving outcomes across cross‑functional and external teams
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and resolving electronics manufacturing and test failures, with a structured, data‑driven problem‑solving approach
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical issues to diverse audiences
  • Hands‑on Quality Engineering experience in fast‑paced, high‑expectation environments, balancing rigor with speed of execution
  • Demonstrated success facilitating quality reviews and applying methodologies such as FMEA, Process Control, First Article Inspections, Six Sigma, and 8D to drive sustained improvement
  • Strong knowledge of risk management across the supply chain, proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating quality risks
  • Proven ability to leverage data analytics and metrics to identify trends, prioritize issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools to analyze data, develop presentations, and communicate insights effectively
  • Ability to balance quality objectives with broader business needs, exercising sound judgment and pragmatism
  • Adaptability and resilience in an evolving environment, with a track record of thriving amid change
  • Knowledge or experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Demonstrated experience leading Root Cause Analysis investigations and implementing effective Corrective/Preventive Action (CAPA)
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing Engineering Change Requests from a Quality Engineering perspective

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong command of statistical analysis tools, with the ability to apply data‑driven insights to manufacturing quality and reliability challenges.
  • Hands‑on experience with production, assembly, and test of electro‑mechanical systems, including plastic injection molding and printed circuit assemblies (PCAs).
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent professional quality certification.
  • Experience with AI use cases for Quality Engineering (QE) 
  • Experience supporting or leading New Product Introduction efforts from design through Manufacturing Readiness

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 114,400 and USD $ 229,200 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
